What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that is constantly varied using high-intensity, functional movements.

At CrossFit East Tucson our programs are designed to help you get in the best shape of your life. You will become stronger, gain lean muscle mass, increase your metabolism, lose body fat, and build confidence. At CrossFit East Tucson our unique training style, expert coaches and supportive community make our box the kind of place you look forward to coming to workout. We integrate functional and cross training into all of our programming.

 

Expect to work with a variety of equipment including kettlebells, ropes, rings, tires, sleds, your own bodyweight and Olympic bars and bumper plates. We focus on creating a team of athletes who have a lot of fun while the workouts are intense and demanding.

What to expect in class.

Classes are about an hour long and are run small-group training style by one of our certified CrossFit Trainers. Classes follow this general format:

  • Dynamic warm up/stretching
  • Strength work – squats, deadlifts, bench press, etc. or skill work – we work a skill/movement that is frequently performed in workouts like handstand pushups, kipping pull-ups
  • WOD – Workout of the Day (Typically MetCon- Metabolic Conditioning)
  • Core, stretching and mobility work-utilizing bands, foam rollers and lacrosse balls

We post the daily workout on our website and the whiteboard at the gym. The entire class is run as a group- coaches lead you through the class with instruction of all movements. The WOD’s can be as short as 5 minutes or up to 45 minutes long but are always challenging. Athletes record performance by posting scores on the whiteboard to encourage friendly competition and track progress. We promote a team mindset and often partner up for workouts.

Who is CrossFit for?

Anyone can do CrossFit! Every workout can be scaled for all different fitness levels. Whether you are brand new to CrossFit or have an existing injury or limitation, we can modify or scale the exercises and workload so that it fits your specific needs.
